'Water Messages' Curators Team MARKK

Since 2018, Dr. Johanna Wild has been accompanying the repositioning of the Museum am Rothenbaum in Hamburg as personal assistant to the director and curator. Previously, she studied art history at the University of New Mexico, where she critically examined the Eurocentrism of the art historical canon. In her work at the museum, she is particularly interested in how artistic practice can contribute to a process of decolonizing institutions. Since April 2021, Katharina Nowak has been working as assistant curator for the Oceania collections at the MARKK in Hamburg, Germany. Her research focuses on collaborative forms of ethnographic knowledge production and decolonization of knowledge. She has a regional interest in Papua New Guinea. Since September 2019, she has been a PhD student at the Department of Anthropology and Cultural Research at the University of Bremen.
