Dr. Yung-chao Tung
is associate professor of the Department of Anthropology and Director of the Taiwan Center for Pacific Studies at National Taiwan University. She began working in collection-related projects at the start of the digitization scheme initiated by the then National Science Council in the early 2000s. Professor Tung has worked on the ethnography of the Pacific collection at the National Taiwan University’s Anthropology Museum, then moved on to a general review of our Paiwan collection. During this process her team began to build up contacts and trust with source communities, and this friendship later became the foundation for more corporative projects. She has carried out three such kinds of bridging projects between museums and communities, and Kaviyangan community was the focus of one of them.
