Opening of the ‘We Are Seediq’ exhibition

22 April 2023, 6:00 - 7:00 pm

Come join us for the celebration of the opening of the exhibition We Are Seediq.  The ceremony will include a traditional Seediq ceremony of reconciliation accompanied by songs and dancing. 

This series of events is part of the opening celebrations of the exhibition We Are Seediq, which was made in co-creation with members of the Seediq community in Taiwan.  You are invited to come and participate in events jointly led by members of their community that participated in the creation of the exhibition.  Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about Seediq history, culture and identity told through their voices.

The Museums of World Culture have partnered with the Seediq National Assembly and the Indigenous Cultural Heritage Master’s Program of Providence University, Taiwan to co-create the exhibition We Are Seediq.  The starting point of the cooperation stems from objects that were collected from Seediq communities around 1900 and now housed at the Museum of Ethnography. Come learn about how this cooperation started, and what the collection means to members of the Seediq community today.
